Come join us and grow in your relationship with Christ. New classes begin September 4. Classes meet at 9 AM and are open to all.
This quarter we will be hosting only one Sunday school class, plus our Covenant of Discipleship class for people interested in joining church. Normal classes will resume in December.
Covenant of Discipleship
Taught by Pastor Sean
Are you interested in joining New Life in Christ Church? In this class Pastor Sean will cover the core convictions of the church, our structure as you prepare to make a public profession of your faith. Begins September 4.
Theology: A History of Evangelicalism
Taught by Pastor Doug and Sam Capitano
Pastor Doug will be helping us work through a history of the evangelical church in the United States. How did we get where we are today? What have been some of the strengths and weaknesses of evangelicalism? Where do we need to go from here? This Sunday school class will help us to know answers to these questions and many more.
“Beginning September 4 during Sunday School, I am teaching a history of Evangelicalism looking at its beginnings, growth, and future.
In the early part of the 20th century, historic Christian faith suffered numerous public setbacks. During the Depression and the early part of World War II, there was discouragement and despair about the direction of our country.
Out of the darkness of the hour came a call for Christian pastors and leaders to join together and speak as one voice the Gospel of Christ and so was born the neo-evangelical movement in 1942. This new vision ignited “a surprising work of God” that brought revival to our land. This revival was most evident in Billy Graham Crusades beginning in 1949.
The revival also was sustained by a commitment to engage the secular culture and present the Christian faith to the universities and the academic world. So was born a network of ministries such as Christianity Today, the Evangelical Theological Society, and other college outreach such as Campus Crusade and InterVarsity.
This revival stirred a student movement for missions to translate the Bible into all the languages of the world. Social outreach flowed from the desire for Christian witness.
I pray that this Sunday School class will inspire, encourage and enable us to strategize to reach our region for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Please come and prayerfully participate.”
