Theme for August: Restoration
Psalm 51:10-12 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.”

Women’s Ministry Committee Corner Update
“Desserts and Debuts”
By Phyllis Di Bella

So, you say, “What is this event all about? What am I getting myself into this time?” Well, here it is in a nutshell. It’s an evening of fun, fellowship, and fabulous desserts with other sisters in Christ who love the Lord and desire to serve Him just as you do. It’s a time to investigate what’s going on with several ministries involving women, hear women speak a little about them, and consider where the Lord may be calling you to serve in the months ahead. It’s a time to relax and be refreshed, spend time with familiar faces we often feel too rushed to do, and meet new ones to welcome into our church. You don’t have to bring a thing, except if you’d like to invite a friend. It will be held outside at the home of Krystal Dowell on Saturday, August 13, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. And in case of uncooperative weather, it will move to Room 100 at church. So stay posted for any changes, and look for more information in the Women’s Weekly Update.

As a body of believers, we know God has created us with many varied gifts and talents. His Word tells us, “And He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, …” There’s a challenge and privilege for us to use our God-given talents and abilities to minister to and serve one another in His name. Maybe you even see another sister who has a strength or buried treasure whom you could encourage to use within a particular ministry. Sometimes that’s all it takes to “stir up one another to love and good works.”

During the evening, you’ll have the opportunity to hear from ministries such as the Nursery, Pioneer Girls, Sunday School, Jr/Sr High Group, College Ministry, Music, Drama, Sewing, Greeters, Food Panty, Women’s Bible Study, Titus 2, Counseling, and Women’s Ministry Committee. Some may be very familiar to you and others you may not even be aware that they exist. You can quietly scout them out or boldly ask questions. The ball’s in your court, so come out and enjoy the fun, food and fabulous fellowship. You know, we do have one of the best groups of women in all of Fredericksburg!

This is an excellent opportunity to serve one morning a week while you learn about the program and have your child in class with you.   CCS’s mission is to disciple covenant families who have a desire to be trained in a Biblical view of life and education and to be intimately involved in their children’s education.  To discuss the details, contact: Barbara Plating
  • College Ministry Needs
God is working through the new College Ministry house!  The ministry still needs several items to operate more effectively.  Any new or gently used items, as well as gift cards, would be greatly appreciated.   Thank you for considering serving in this way!  Contact: Joshua or Anacari Storms

  • Supply Hand Lotions
Would you consider donating a pump bottle of lotion for the NLIC men’s & women’s washrooms?  In the past, lotions have been very useful and much appreciated.  Bottles can be dropped off at the church office.  Contact: Christine Fulcrod | 540-746-4848 | nlicc@nlicc.org
  • Church Kitchen Cleaning
A clean and organized church kitchen allows for us to continue so many ministry endeavors — care groups, receptions, luncheons, daily use by the church staff and Covenant School, etc.  This once-a-month rotation of 1-3 volunteers allows us to deep clean, maintain, and organize a heavily used church resource so it can continued to be used well.  Sign-up with a friend or get to know someone new by serving together in this way!  You can access the sign-up hereContact: Christine Fulcrod | 540-746-4848 | nlicc@nlicc.org
