Dear New Life in Christ Family,

At New Life in Christ Church we point even our littlest children to the grace and love of Jesus Christ. If you stop by our nursery on a Sunday morning, on one side you will see Parker and Annie Page showing these little ones how much Jesus loves them through a simple Sunday school class. On the other side you will see loving volunteers showing the love of Jesus Christ by holding and comforting babies.

From cradle to grave we want to show people how much they matter and how much Jesus loves them. It is also a great ministry to parents who can take some time to worship God and quiet themselves before Him. In light of the importance of our nursery and our growing need of volunteers, I asked Parker and Annie Page if they would write an article for the Weekender. I have included it below.

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. (Psalm 127:3)

New Life in Christ Church has been blessed with an abundance of little children. With this blessing comes a need and responsibility from the members of the church. The nursery is in need of volunteers to help staff the infant and toddler nursery during the morning service. This may not seem like a glamorous duty, but it is a vital ministry. It is an encouragement and blessing not only to the children, but also their parents.

Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest. And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him, and said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great. (Luke 9: 46-48)

We learn from this passage the high regard Jesus places on children. He tells us that when we receive a child in His Name, we receive Him; and in receiving Him, we receive God. What a marvelous opportunity! As a covenant community let us be faithful to serve even the least of these in our congregation because that is greatness in the Kingdom of God.

In serving these little ones keep in mind the exortation found in Psalm 78:4-7:
We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: that the generation to come might know them even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: that they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments.

The time spent with our little ones on Sunday morning is not void and purposeless. The infants can know the love of God through your comfort and loving care. Use your time on Sunday morning to pray for the little ones in your care, their families, and even the expectant babies to come. You have even greater opportunity with the toddlers. Pray with them, read Bible stories, sing praise to God! They are little sponges that soak up the good news you are sharing.

These are just a few ways we can be faithful to teach the next generation the greatness of our God. Our prayer is that all the children of New Life would set their hope in God and faithfully serve Him all the days of their lives. Our hope would be that every household, unless providentially hindered, would serve as part of the nursery rotation. Please email Annie Page at page.annie@gmail.com to become a part of the nursery rotation.

One more thing before I sign out. Our Women’s Ministry Committee compiles a weekly email list with a short article and lots of announcements. This week has some important ones, especially an opportunity to help Jeremy and Tracy Greenberg as they move into the new church accommodations behind the church. Please check it out online and let us know how you can help (http://www.nlicc.org/women/womens-ministry-update-51613/). [Oh yeah, you don’t have to be female to help with many of these projects.]

Faithfully Yours,
Pastor Sean
