Child Evangelism Fellowship
by Joy Lopes
“And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, bring glad tidings of good things!'”
It’s always a challenge to describe my journey with Child Evangelism Fellowship. There is just so much to be said! This year at CEF training camp at East Over Retreat Center, our theme was “Blessed are the feet that preach the good news.” The reference escapes me, but the verse is a powerful one, none-the-less. This summer, I had the privilege of talking with over 20 children, and helping them invite Jesus into their hearts. God did incredible work this summer in the hearts of hundreds of children. I know that God is STILL at work with them, growing and strengthening them in Christ. So please, do not cease praying for them, but pray all the more that their faith would grow stronger every day.
Another theme discussed at camp was “Jesus friend of sinners.” To think that Jesus loved me, a filthy sinner, so much that he wanted to be a friend to me. I wanted those children to know that too, that no matter what happened, Jesus loves them, and always will. I realized this summer, while watching children accept Christ, how blessed I am, that God placed me in a Christian home and gave me the opportunity to serve during the summer as a missionary with Child Evangelism Fellowship. I got to watch children share in the joy of a Savior. To rejoice together with them, in Jesus, our Friend. You and I have been given the ability to share the unending love of Jesus with those who have never known love like that. So yes, blessed are the feet of those who preach the good news. We do not share the good news to look for blessings and future gain, but we share it because seeing God’s hand at work in peoples lives IS the blessing.
About Joy: Joy, 14, is the daughter of Pam Lopes, sister of Spencer and Brooke, and is a homeschooling freshman with Classical Conversations. She enjoys dance, drama, playing the flute and sharing Jesus.
Titus 2 Sign-ups in Foyer this Sunday
We are thankful for Pastor Sean’s sermon reference to vulnerability in discipleship relationships and that he specifically mentioned and recommended Titus 2 to women. We are praying for more involvement from young women and those who have not participated in the past. Because of the once a month structure and sessions that meet at all times of the month and week, women at all stages of life, those who work, are college students, homeschool their children, etc. are able to find a place for unique intimacy in study, prayer and fellowship over a meal. Books available Sunday or you may purchase yours ($7) from Christine in the office. Contact Karen Melnick if you have any questions about joining a Titus 2 group.
Women’s Bible Study begins Tuesday September 10th in Room 219
Christine Fulcrod will lead the study The Confession of Faith- A Woman’s Approach by Jeanne Patterson beginning Tuesday mornings September 10th from 9:30-11:30. Childcare is available. We invite you to study the beauty and fullness of doctrine as derived from the Scriptures. We are discovering in community that when we struggle it is usually in part or whole to an incomplete or faulty understanding of doctrine and how it applies to our lives. Grounding our minds in sound doctrine and its supporting Scripture equips us to defeat the lies of the enemy, the world, and our own selfish desires and equips us to speak into one another’s lives. RSVP to Christine in the office.

Shower of Prayer, September 21st at 9am in the Fireside Room
Come enjoy breakfast and a time of prayer in anticipation of our NLICC and EG covenant babies. This Prayer Shower is in honor of Tracy Greenberg, Dena Kota, Annie Page, Katie Pirch, Hannah Reed and Ruth de Los Santos. No gifts expected, food provided. Bring a heart of prayer and praise for these little ones and their families! Note: This is a collective opportunity to have all of our expectant moms together to celebrate the covenant children of the church while yet in the womb and pray for their safe and healthy deliveries. It does not preclude care groups or friends from having baby showers for individuals. We plan to have these Prayer Showers periodically in the future.
Baby Shower for Tracy Greenberg, Sunday, September 29th at 2pm
At the home of Taniya Capitano, 1026 West Kensington Circle, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. RSVP to Taniya by 9/27. Invitations are in the foyer.
Pastor Gary has challenged us as a church to help support our mission to Capernaum, Younglife’s ministry to disabled children and young adults, through hospitality to the teens and their families. One of the ways that you can help is by providing drinks and snacks for the teens or by providing refreshment and hospitality to the parents who meet in the Youth Room upstairs. Check out the sign up sheet – is there a place where you, your family, care group or you and a friend would be willing to serve?

Electronic Signup Help
Hey! Do you have a ministry need and would like help setting up an online signup sheet? Part of our mission as the Women’s Ministry Committee is to help facilitate communications. The advantage to an online signp is that participants get real time updates and there’s no need to wait until business hours to place a call or wait for someone to get back to you with email. You sign up and it’s done. It’s not difficult to set up a signup and we have an account with TimeToSignUp for NLICC Women’s Ministry that you are welcome to use for church events. Contact Heather for admin information if you are interested. Need us to set your signup up for you? Write down all the information that people need to know (Who’s the contact? What’s the activity? When and where?) and then provide a list of who or what (with amounts) you’ll need. It’s an easy way to allow folks to sign up as volunteers, to bring donations, to coordinate who’s bringing what.
Let us know what you’d like to see from Women’s Ministry at New life in Christ Church. Is there an activity or subject that you’d like to see? Do you have a friend that should be encouraged to share her story? What is the Lord teaching you? We’d like to hear…firstname.lastname@example.org
in His grace,
