Praying for our Pastors, Elders, Deacons and Music Director

October is Pastor Appreciation Month

by Gretchen Trump

We ask you…to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.”
I Thessalonians 5:12,13

To prepare for next month’s Pastor Appreciation, let us be sure to pray for our Pastors, Elders, Deacons and Music Director with thanksgiving, honor and praise. The members of New Life in Christ Church are blessed to have these men of God “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:12,13).”

In the 17th Chapter of Exodus, we read how Moses, Aaron and Hur go to the top the hill to watch over Joshua and the men of Israel in the battle against Amalek. Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the sword (Exodus 17: 11-13).” Please notice that Aaron and Hur not only helped hold Moses’ hands, but they brought a stone to put under him. This must have been a large stone and took time and effort to bring to Moses. Why didn’t they have Moses move over to where the stone was? It may have been so that Moses’ vision was never shifted.

This is a key to how we as blessed women of NLICC should pray. We can pray for those in authority without trying to shift their vision from what God has in front of them. We need to pray for them and not against them. We must be thankful for their God-given position at NLICC.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Pastors, Elders, Deacons and Music Director at New Life in Christ Church. Each man is a blessing to the body of Christ. May they heed Your admonishment in II Timothy 4:2 to “preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” Bless these men with rest. May they always rest in You. May their daily times of devotion to You be an encouragement to them and a blessing to You. May they be guided by the Holy Spirit at all times. May they lean not on their own understanding but lean on You (Proverbs 3:5). Grant unity to these men (John 17:21). Grant them courage and strength, and let them not be discouraged (Joshua 1:9).

We pray also for their families. Keep them safe and under the Shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91). May each family member be encouraged by You and grant special family times.

We thank You, again, for each of these men. Thy will be done at New Life in Christ Church, to the Glory of God! In Christ’s Name, AMEN!

Pastor Appreciation Month is October – Sign up to bless a pastor
We thought it would be nice to have each family bless a pastor (or more than one) during the month. In order to distribute the blessing, we’ll have you commit to a day to do something special for the pastor and/or his family. You don’t need to share with everyone what you plan to do, just commit to a day and together we’ll bless them each all month long!
Some ideas are: letters, meals, coupons for babysitting, gift cards, an invitation to your home for dinner, gift basket, off-season getaway at your rental property… Brainstorm and have fun! Make it a family affair or get together with a friend and be creative!   Sign up here.

Babies, babies, babies! Do you have any  used “baby” furniture to give or loan to the church until some can be purchased?
With the blessing of many new babies, there is a need for  gliders, rockers, or a sofa, and a changing table for a new nursing area being planned for them. Please contact Kathryne Marple if you have any items that could be donated immediately. We are hoping to work on an area for them this Saturday during the church work day.

Bulletin Folding
Fall is a great time to fold bulletins – older children are in school, schedules are more regular, and you can plan a lunch date and follow it up with service to the church! Do you have a couple hours on a Friday afternoon you can spare? Sign up HERE to fold bulletins after 1 pm some Friday. Takes about 2 hours (faster if you bring a friend!) Questions? Ask Pam in the office.

From Kathryne:

”And He took the children in His arms, put His hands on them and blessed them.”
Mark 10:16

Praise be to God for the  births of many new babies this year, and several still on the way! It is a blessing to meet these precious new lives andto begin the bonding process with them as a new covenant family member in the body of Christ at New Life. Please pray for these families as they adjust to having a new life in their homes. I have not had the privilege of meeting all of them yet (except on Facebook!), but I look forward to holding each precious child and getting to know them as they grow at New Life!
