“Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.” (John 4:35, ESV)
Would you join me and other churches for an evangelism rally Saturday evening? Here is the short of it …
When? Saturday at 7 PM
Where? Grace Church of Fredericksburg (1141 Heatherstone Dr, Fredericksburg, VA 22407)
What? Evangelism Rally with Will Graham speaking (grandson of Billy Graham) and Worship led by The Afters
Why? I am excited about reaching lost people with the gospel. The gospel is the power of God for salvation. As people believe in Jesus Christ, they enter into eternal life - freedom from God’s future judgment, peace with God right now, and they find a new way of life right now. I’ve seen it happen countless times and I want to see more people find new life in Jesus Christ.
Through Jesus Christ people find forgiveness of sin, help to the guilty conscience, repentance and a new moral way of living, purpose for their lives, guidance in decisions, reconciliation with others, reconciliation with other races, reconciliation with themselves, and connection in community.
We have a unique opportunity to raise up the vision, hope, prayers and expectations for reaching our community. We have a regional evangelistic outreach coming to Fredericksburg on June 25. But the success we want will require us to prepare ahead of time. We need to prayerfully and diligently seed the ground before that day.
That is why this Saturday, February 5, is so important. It’s called a “Rally” - what are we rallying for? We rally for the work of evangelism. We are rallying to encourage one another, to encourage one another Christians that we are not in this alone, that this matters enough to raise the temperature for evangelism in our community. We rally because we want the community to know that we love them and that we have a message to share. We rally because we know that faith in Jesus Christ changes people and communities for the better.
It is a pretty spectacular thing to get so many churches together for a cause like this. We all have our own personality and preferences. We have differences (and I don’t think everything that will happen on Saturday will fit my preferences). But there is a big issue we can rally around - that Jesus Christ is the hope of sinners, that He is the only hope of salvation, and that we want to make Him known to our neighbors and loved ones.
I hope you can join us. If you join the event, please be sure to find me and say hi.
