Dear New Life in Christ Church Family,

“For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.” (Psalm 91:3–4, ESV)

What a hot summer it has been … not just the outside temperatures, but in the life of the church too. July saw one of our biggest Vacation Bible School turn-outs ever with over 120 kids registered. We are thankful for over 80 volunteers helping out at some point, and especially for Julie Root and Jennifer Worman leading our church in discipling children.

As we head into August, I wanted to mention a couple items of interest. First, we will be voting on officer candidates on August 28 at our 6 PM service. The session is presenting Dave Sedlak and Robert Williams, Jr. as elder candidates and Dan Fischer as a deacon candidate. We have the chance to hear from them on July 31 at the 6 PM service.

Selecting officer candidates is a significant role of the congregation. Please participate as you can, asking questions and being familiar with the process. The vote on August 28 is a congregational meeting and we need to be sure we have a quorum, so your participation is requested.

Secondly, we plan to have an informational meeting on August 21, immediately after the morning service, to discuss moving to two services in September, as well as two potential building projects: a balcony (adding 116 seats) and a foyer. We hope our move to two services will be temporary until we complete a balcony and can have the extra space to accommodate visitors during the holiday season. This informational meeting on August 21 and will be followed by an all-church picnic.

I don't know about you, but with the change in the local school calendar, August feels like "get back to school" month. We are busy organizing the coming ministry year.

As we enter into August, please pray about your involvement with the life of the church in the fall. Youth groups, choirs, and Care Groups will start after Labor Day. We have a couple youth events in August to get the kids ready for the year ahead: a cookout and pool party on August 6 and a canoe trip on August 27.

We are also organizing Care Groups. Over this month we hope to connect every member into a care group and we hope to have more people than ever involved this year. We praise God that we have a few new Care Group leaders joining us this year, giving us hope that we will have more people involved.

We will also have a Covenant of Discipleship class on August 12 and 13. If someone in your family would like to become a member of New Life in Christ, please register to attend. All of us will be able to hear their testimonies on August 21.

We praise God for being a rock in turbulent times. He is our shepherd as we walk through the valley of the shadow of death. We face sky rocking expenses, national violence, pressures against religious liberty, and pressures against the family. The number of COVID cases are growing again.

Still, God is a rock. He is growing His church. We have so much to give thanks for as we see the Lord building our church, using our gifts, and reaching into our community. He will carry us through whatever we face, even in the valley of the shadow of death. Let us know how we can pray for you in this time.

Faithfully Yours,
Pastor Sean
