“. . . to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace.” (Luke 1:79, ESV)

This Saturday we have one of the special events of our missions month - our annual missions banquet. It's always a good chance to hear what God is doing in the world and how NLICC is participating with God's work. This year, we look forward to having Karl and Debbie Dortzbach. Karl and Debbie have been long-time friends of Pastor Doug and Mary Jane and long-term friends of our congregation as well.

Karl and Debbie have served various missions organizations through the years and survived a dramatic kidnapping early in their missionary career, which they wrote about in their 1979 book "Kidnapped". Karl currently serves as the PhD program Director in Peace Studies with the International Graduate School of Leadership/Asia Graduate School of Theology.

At the Saturday banquet, Karl and Debbie will tell the story of God's call to missions and their kidnapping. It's a glimpse into the missions history of New Life in Christ and God's work of missions through the years. It will be a great night of fellowship, of fun, and of encouragement as we hear the kindness and love of God in bringing light to a dark world.

Our missions committee planned an early banquet to help our families come and still be able to get childen hope to bed on time, as well as our seniors to be able to get here and home while the sun is still up.
