Focus for January: My value in the light of God’s omniscience and omnipresence!

“I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise; I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. On the day I   called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased.”
Psalm 138:1-3

“And Can It Be That I should Gain”

Charles Wesley

And can it be that I should gain
An int’rest in the Savior’s blood?
Died He for me, who caused His pain?
For me, who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

’Tis mystery all! The Immortal dies!
Who can explore His strange design?
In vain the firstborn seraph tries
To sound the depths of love Divine!
’Tis mercy all! let earth adore,
Let angel minds inquire no more.
’Tis mercy all! let earth adore,
Let angel minds inquire no more.

He left His Father’s throne above,
So free, so infinite His grace;
Emptied Himself of all but love,
And bled for Adam’s helpless race:
’Tis mercy all, immense and free;
For, O my God, it found out me.
’Tis mercy all, immense and free;
For, O my God, it found out me.

Long my imprisoned spirit lay
Fast bound in sin and nature’s night;
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray,
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

No condemnation now I dread;
Jesus, and all in Him, is mine!
Alive in Him, my living Head,
And clothed in righteousness Divine,
Bold I approach the eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.
Bold I approach the eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

Food Pantry Update
The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank has a free app that provides up-to-date information on regional food banks. Regional Food Banks are available on every day of the week. You can find more information here:

Notice: At this time, we are only in need of toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, floss, face soap, and deodorant (hotel/travel size or regular are all fine).

Before COVID, we were in the process of establishing “distribution days” to focus our efforts and better serve needs in our community. However, just as soon as we established this new focus, we suspended it until further notice. Throughout this time, food boxes have remained available (stocked in the closet across from the kitchen) for anyone in need. In all cases, our priority is to share the Gospel using the Food Pantry as a vehicle to support that commission.

Food boxes are always available for members and “regular attenders” of New Life. For restocking purposes, please notify Connie or Pastor Sam of the date and number of boxes taken/provided. Needs outside the church may be communicated through Tell a Deacon, and the church office will field requests from drop-ins who show up at the office.
