NLICC WOMEN’S UPDATE 06.17.22
Focus for June: Security
“Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.”
QUESTION OF THE MONTH
How secure are you in your salvation?
If you feel so led, please send your response to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please respond under 700 words. We look forward to hearing from you!

Security. We all desire it. Many people plan for it with savings accounts, wise estate planning, retirement accounts, doing all we can to exercise, eat right, sleep well, take vitamins to prolong our health so we may live long, secure lives. But ultimately, living in a world where Satan has been given temporary domain, my only real security is found through faith in the Creator, the Son, my Savior, my security. When all is said and done, my security has been secured by something I have had no input in at all.
In Hebrews 3 we read: “Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle, and High Priest of our confession. He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was in all His house……but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house-whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end…..take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today.” So that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin, for we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end.” Hebrews 3:1-2, 6,12-14
I know of no better security than El Shaddai who said, “The Lord also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble; and those who know Your name will put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.” Psalm 8:9-10
Lord, I pray that for every Ukrainian who still lives and struggles with the visions of war. I pray that for every illegal immigrant that has crossed our borders without a system that helps them become legally established in a community with resources. I pray this verse for my oldest son who is without a teaching career because a school system cast him out after helping to save the life of a high school student who overdosed in his classroom. I pray this verse for my mother who at 91 cannot remember her salvation. I pray this security for my husband and I, when after months of preparation, our home which is for sale and on the market for over a week has not had one showing. God is Sovereign….and still on the throne….and His love for us is sure!
What better security is there than the promises in Psalm 16:7-11 “I will bless the Lord who has counseled me; Indeed, my mind instructs me in the night. I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore, my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will dwell securely, for You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay. You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.”
David knew security. It is seen in the faith demonstrated in Psalm 27. “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread” When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, my adversaries, and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. Though a host encamp against me, my heart will not fear. Though war arise against me, in spite of this, I shall be confident.”
If you are looking for security, “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in holy array.”
