Focus for September: Thankfulness
“How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you.”
Psalm 139: 17-18

Most days I need a thankful thought like I need a breath of fresh air. When I’m overwhelmed with tasks that just keep piling up, when my anxiety gets tweaked and my heart starts racing, when I’m angry about things that are out of my control, I need thankfulness. It reminds me to stop, to breathe, and to find specific things related to my current frustration that I can say, “Thank you, Lord for…”
Thank you, Lord, that I’m gainfully employed and that you’re teaching me how to be a better employee, and that my work and my attitude matter
Thank you, Lord, for showing me this place in my heart that I don’t let you rule over and help me to give this space to you
Thank you, Lord, when I’m inwardly spiraling out of control, that you are always in control, of the good and the bad, and that I can rely on you to always do your holy will

Thankfulness teaches me to be intentional about my thoughts and my prayers. It helps me take a step back and reframe a situation. It is the faintest taste of the sweetness of heaven where we will worship in one accord and say, “Thank you, Lord."

MOTs (Mothers of Toddlers) to Begin October 17!
MOTs is a group organized for mothers with young children (between newborn and 4 years old) who are seeking a community of growth and gathering with sisters in Christ. Starting Monday, October 17th, MOTs will be meeting weekly from 9:30-11am in the Fireside Room at NLICC, and will be facilitated by Rachel Martin with monthly devotionals provided by Nancy Haenlein. Our objective as a group is to enable mothers, new and experienced, to have community with one another while our toddlers play together, supervised, in the church nursery. To ensure the safety of our toddlers, each mother is asked to serve in the nursery during one of our meetings on a rotating schedule. Please contact Rachel Martin to sign up for this group and to leave return contact information for yourself.
