Genesis 19:1-38

Many believe they can live at peace with a world antagonistic toward God and His word. As we read about the destruction of the city of Sodom, we have to deal with the unsettling comfort Lot had within the city. From all appearances Lot attempted to straddle the fence between God and the world, compromising what was right and good for the sake of comfort and wealth. In the end, he and his family lose everything, showing that we cannot straddle the fence like this. Lives built upon the unrighteousness of sin will crumble in due time (1 Corinthians 3:11-15). What will last? Jesus Christ and His kingdom. This sinful world will not lead to life, we must choose Christ lest we are taken in by the world and we lose everything. Looking through the life of Lot, we will learn how we choose Christ over the world.
