New Life in Christ Weekender
A short reminder of events happening this weekend.
The Esther Musical is coming next weekend (see more online at www.nlicc.org/esther/). Are you planning to come? Make sure you get tickets. Have you invited anyone to come? Make sure you invite them before it is too late.
An event like Esther is a great opportunity to invite your neighbors, your classmates, your co-workers, or your family to attend. We purposely build events like Esther into low-risk opportunities to invite lots of people to attend. The more people you invite … the more likely you are to have somebody come to the show. Who knows, a simple invitation might make an eternal difference in the life of somebody you know. If we want some plants to grow, the one thing we need to do is to spread the seed widely before we will see shoots coming out of the ground. I remember one specific person who came to Christ as a direct result of being invited to our last Esther musical.
Once you have a friend come to visit you have a new door you have a great opportunity to open up conversations on more spiritual matters. One of our greatest weaknesses in sharing our faith is never moving on to the next step. We invite people to come to an event, but never take the risky but important step of moving them closer to Christ. Sometimes it is simply a matter of making it too complicated. We might think, “I don’t know how to move the conversation to the next point. I don’t know how to talk to this person more about God or my faith.”
Well, let me try to make it simple. Here is an easy script, “Jim, I’m so glad you came to the show tonight. Did you enjoy it? As you may know, my faith is very important to me and I believe it is important for every person in the world to have faith. Would you like to learn more about the Christian faith by doing a short Bible Study on the life of Jesus?”
It may not be creative, but it gets to the point. The person may say “no”, which makes things easy simply because it lets you know about their spiritual interest, allowing you to focus your energy on people who may be more interested. If they say “yes” then you have the opportunity to using the Bible to share the life of Christ. I have some tools that you can use to help you lead a study like this. On Sunday night at 7:15 pm I plan to share a tool with you that you can use.
So as you think about the upcoming musical, think about two things. First, who would you like to invite to the musical. Second, are you willing to take the step of faith and speak with them about your faith?
We have some great opportunities coming up. Pray for New Life in Christ Church as we put on the Esther musical next weekend.
