NLIC Women’s Update (08/25/16) | “Restoration” – Answers to Q. of the Month

Theme for August: Restoration
Psalm 51:10-12 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.”

WMC Question of the Month: “What means does God use to restore your soul?”

“I’m pretty thick sometimes and God needs to hit me over the head with a 2×4.  But sometimes pain is good.  When my soul is troubled, it is usually because I haven’t gone to God for my daily (sometimes hourly) cleansing of prayer and repentance.  I need to remember that I am loved by an AWESOME God and I could avoid soooo much anxiety and worry if I just went to my loving Father for forgivness and strength to continue in the way He would have me go.  Why are we so reluctant to admit our sin and be forgiven?  I always feel renewed and refreshed.  Why don’t we go to Him FIRST instead of suffering by ourselves? My prayer for myself and all of you is:  ‘Dear Father,  forgive us of our stubbornness in trying to go our own way.  Help us to come to you first for the love, forgiveness, strength and restoration we know from your word you give to all your children who come to you in true repentance.  Amen.'” – Gail Weeks
“Isaiah 40:8 reminds us, ‘The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.’ In our changing and tumultuous world, the Word of God is a precious gift. It is our rock. It is our anchor. So what means does God use to restore my soul? He uses His Scripture, His words, His breath. It sounds so simple, read the Bible. But it is through the reading of Scripture that words from His mouth breathe life into my soul. His Word convicts, transforms, and restores. And that, my friends, brings great joy.'” – Sarah Schroeder
