Ministry Spotlight: Women’s Christmas Cookie Exchange

We are just about two weeks away from our annual Christmas Exchange!  We have heard from many ladies about their eager participation in this event and we are so looking forward to this time of fellowship.

 Christmas-Cookies (1)

BASICS: We wanted to let you know of a time and location change for our cookie exchange on Saturday, December 5.  To accommodate the amount of women (and kids!) attending, we will be moving the exchange to Room 100 at New Life.  Also, the time will change to 10 am.  This event is open to all women at New Life and any of their co-workers, neighbors, friends, or family members they would like to to invite to join for the fellowship.  Children are also more than welcome to attend!

FELLOWSHIP:  Please enjoy socializing with women – standing or sitting at any of the tables available.  There will be hot cocoa, apple cider, coffee, tea, and water available as refreshments.  Please note that this is not a Women’s Breakfast and, therefore, will not be a meal.

CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES:  There will be several seasonal activities available for children to enjoy.  One of these activities is a Christmas Cookie Decorating Table.  Pre-baked sugar cookies will be available for children to each decorate a few!  We do ask that caregivers monitor their children participating in these activities, specifically regarding their use of coloring utensils and decorating tools.  However, we pray that these activities make the exchange enjoyable for the entire family!

THE EXCHANGE:  While you are more than welcome to attend simply to “socialize” and enjoy our sweet time of fellowship, we also invite you to participate in our exchange.  In order to participate, please bring sandwich-sized Ziploc bags each filled with 3-4 cookies (depending on the size of the cookie).  Bring as many bags as you’d like to take home!  For example, if you’d like 2 dozen cookies to take home (to consume, freeze, or gift!), bring at least 6-8 sandwich-sized Ziploc bags.  Bring favorite Christmas cookies or even all-year-round cookies — homemade or store-bought!  During the exchange, we will each take turns explaining the cookies we brought (if it’s an all-time favorite or a family recipe, etc.) and the cookies will be displayed on a huge “buffet table”.  Women will then go through the line choosing as many bags to bring home as they brought.

SPECIAL NOTES:  If able, please consider labeling each sandwich-sized Ziploc bag with the name of the cookie, i.e. “Chocolate Crinkles”.  Labels will be available at the exchange, if needed.  It’s fun to see the creativity of women — some women choose to include the recipe in the bag and/or a fun decoration.  Additionally, if able, we would GREATLY appreciate if you could list any allergens such as cinnamon, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, etc. or labeling if the cookie is gluten-free or dairy-free, etc. to accommodate for the diets, lifestyles, and allergies present.  This is not necessary, but, is super helpful for women who would love to participate.

RSVP:  If able, please e-mail Amy Auker if you plan to attend to we can prepare accordingly.  This is especially helpful if you are bringing children as we can make sure we have plenty of coloring pages and such available!   You may also contact Amy Auker (amy.auker@gmail.com) or Heather O’Hara (mama.o@verizon.net) if you have any questions about the exchange.

If you have a devotional, “Ministry Spotlight”, or a “Question of the Month” you’d be willing to share, please e-mail wm@nlicc.org.
