VBS FAQS

What is the mission for VBS this year?

Zoomerang is a sanctity of life VBS in the land down under! Like a boomerang, we are returning kids to the value of life, from the lives of preborn babies to eternal life in the kingdom of God. You'll marvel at the unforgettable wildlife, culture, and beauty of Australia while discovering that from the tiniest to the oldest, each person is made in the image of God, wonderfully designed to know Him and live for Him!

How do I register my child?

Online registration is now open! Our VBS season kicks off with an Open House on July 9th from 4:30-6 PM with an ice cream social, bouncy house, games, and prizes!  Please go to nlicc.org to register and direct questions to Catherine Ferguson, Julie Whitenack, or Krisee Yee, or email NLICC@nlicc.org

Is there a cost for my child to attend VBS?

New Life in Christ Church is blessed to offer our VBS free of charge!

What is the VBS schedule?

Drop off time begins at 8:50 AM with parents bringing their children to the church foyer registration desk where they will check their child in and get name tags and schedules.  Children will then bid farewell to parents and be escorted into the sanctuary by a VBS volunteer where they will join their class and meet their teachers.  From 9 AM to 12 PM, kids will enjoy worship time, drama performances, classroom activities, recreation, snacks, and crafts.  Pick up will mirror the morning drop off.  Children will be gathered by class in the sanctuary waiting for parents to check them out at the registration desk in the church foyer.  Once checked out, registration will inform VBS volunteers to escort children to meet their parents in the foyer.

What should my child wear?

We encourage children to wear relaxed play clothes and comfortable shoes as they will be playing outdoor games, doing creative but sometimes messy crafts, enjoying classroom projects, and eating yummy snacks. The children will have some outdoor recreation time if you want to prepare them for high temperatures or sun exposure.

What if my child has allergies?

During the registration process, please inform coordinators of your child’s specific allergies and provide any and all information regarding triggers, treatment, and medications.  Coordinators will work with teacher and kitchen staff to ensure your child is properly cared and provided for!  We will have junior epipens and a med kit available.

Can parents stay during VBS?

In order to limit numbers and avoid crowding, we do not have a parents' area available at this time, nor are parents able to remain with their child in classes.  However, parents are invited to come and observe in the back of the sanctuary during the closing worship time but will be asked to move back out to the foyer to check their children out at the registration desk before collecting them!

Who will be teaching my child?

Our staff consists of all volunteers ranging from all ages and backgrounds!  We are blessed with their willingness to serve, some for over 30 years!  All adult coordinators, teachers, and assistants will have completed a certified Child Protection Course and a satisfactory background check.

Will I need to provide a snack for my child?

Our kitchen staff does a fantastic job of preparing yummy and nutritious themed snacks for each day, all while attempting to remain peanut free.  If your child has a food allergy or sensitivity, please include that information in your registration.  Labeled water bottles are permitted; however, there will be ample water breaks.
